What is thermal paper?
Thermal paper is paper that is impregnated with a chemical that changes colour when exposed to heat. Heat generated in the tiny print head element transfers to the thermal paper roll and activates the ink to develop colour.

What is bond paper?
The name “bond” was originally given to a paper, which was used for printing bonds and stock certificates. It is now used in referring to paper used for letterheads and many printing purposes. The important characteristics of bond rolls are finish, strength, freedom from fuzz and rigidity.
There is one important thing to remember:
if your cash register machine uses a ribbon – you need bond paper.
What is 2 ply paper?
2 ply paper (also referred to as carbonless paper) uses a chemical reaction between two different contacting coatings to transfer an image when pressure is applied. When a handwritten or machine impression occurs on the first sheet of multiple parts, the impression transfers from one page or ply to the next due to the bursting of tiny microcapsules in the chemical coating that are used to release a darkened copy of the impression occurring on the first sheet.
